This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year.  They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter with her finance and son.  The boy quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple has longed for.  The play explores the relationship between father and daughter as well as the challenges faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.
